Women's Empowerment Emporium
Our team of dedicated volunteers makes the popular monthly Women's Empowerment Emporium program possible, investing their valuable time and energy to brighten the lives of so many women. This monthly program has been actively helping an average of 50-100 families since November of 2013. Even better, we're now providing an opportunity for tomorrow's leaders to gain community service experience through our new partnership with the University of Findlay's Pharmacy College. Pharmacy students set up information booths to interact with our Emporium clients and provide medication screenings, blood pressure and glucose screenings, and information like nutrition awareness.
How does it operate
Eligible families may visit the Emporium every third Saturday from 9-11AM. We set up in the Atrium lobby of the University of Findlay Education building at 300 Davis St.
During our shopping window, clients with proof of Ohio residency (Drivers License, Utility Bill) are able to shop for 6 items from our taxables shop. If the client brings their own bag, they get 1 extra item. And in their birthday month, they can get an extra item.
Taxable items are set out in a U-shaped "shop" for our clients to shop from. Clients can shop from a wide variety of Cleaning Products, Health & Beauty, Women's Care, and Paper/Plastic taxable items which our clients pay nothing to receive. Some of the most popular items selected by our clients are toilet paper, tissues, laundry detergent, soap, and shampoo.
